Sun Microsystems, Inc. (more commonly known as Sun Microsystems; now Oracle America, Inc.) is a computer, computer component designer, as well as a leading software manufacturer. Established in 1982, the company is headquartered in Santa Clara, California.
The Sun logo was conceptualized by professor Vaughan Pratt of Stanford University. It depicts four interleaved copies of the word sun. The original logo had the sides oriented horizontally and vertically, but it was later restyled so as to appear to stand on one corner.
