The company was initiated in 1957 as aa manufacturer of semiconductor devices. HP merged with such companies as Sony and Yokogawa Electronic in 1960’s, which was not at all fruitful; so the company teamed up with Yokogawa to structure Yokogawa-Hewlett-Packard in 1963. The HP Company later chose to use Digital Equipment Corporation computers, together with its devices, but with the passage of time, this notion became redundant. In 1966, the company commenced with HP 2100/ HP 1000 series of minicomputers.
